PHD Computer Science STUDENT POSITION

The PHD Computer Science over-all objective of this project is to develop mathematical models to high shear wet granulation for design, scope, function, control and optimization of tablet formulations used in mixers with high shear. This is of great interest to the pharmaceutical industry and requires a coupling between the particle level models (the balances of the population) models for flow and shear fields. The models are verified experimentally.

PHD Computer Science Especially on the experimental and theoretical methods to describe the development of multidimensional aggregates of the balances of the population in the dense particle systems and models of coupling between fluid flow and balance of the population are developed. The PHD Computer Science project is a joint venture between AstraZeneca Mölndal and Chemical Engineering at Chalmers.

Previous work by the research group has been focused on development and validation of population balances (Niklasson Björn et al, 2005; Darelius et al, 2005; 2006), but initial experimental (Darelius et al, 2007a;b) and modelling (Darelius et al, 2008; 2010) work at the macroscopic flow level has also been performed.

The project is funded by the Swedish Research Council.
