Researcher Phd Computer Science

An opportunity has arisen for a Researcher within a well-established and successful research team. The post involves working on study funded by the Health Technology Assessment programme (National Institute for Health Research): Effectiveness and Cost-Effectiveness of Body Psychotherapy in the Treatment of Negative Symptoms of Schizophrenia (NESS). The multi-centre randomised controlled trial aims to improve the treatment of negative symptoms of patients with schizophrenia through testing a novel treatment method. We are seeking to employ a Researcher who will work closely with the Principal Investigator (Prof. Stefan Priebe) and have a leading role in co-ordinating, conducting and completing the project.

Candidates should hold a first or second class upper undergraduate degree in psychology or a related social science. A higher research degree is desirable, but not essential. Candidates should have good communication and presentation skills, the ability to organise others and work in a team, and a genuine interest in exploring novel treatment methods. Knowledge of mental health services and experience of mental health research are desirable.

The post is full time and fixed term for 3 Years and 9 months starting in May 2011 (or as soon as possible thereafter). Starting salary will be in the range of £28,025 - £30,350 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. The postholder will be based at the Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry, Centre for Psychiatry, Queen Mary University of London which is located within the Newham Centre for Mental Health part of East London NHS Foundation Trust.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
